We will read historical and contemporary writers, and we will read novels, short stories, poems, a graphic memoir, critical essays, and watch at least one film. Issues covered may include: LGBTQ+ writing in historical and social contexts; obstacles faced by LGBTQ+ writers; intersections of race, class, and nation; and the relationship between aesthetic forms and queer subjectivity.
